3 years: Date Night

First of all, thanks so much to Tyne and Patrick for watching Ava while we went out!
I saw a Groupon a week or two before for The Melting Pot and thought this would be such a cool place to go and celebrate.
I've heard about this place for a long time and have always wanted to go.  The Groupon made it affordable enough for a fancy night out and I thought that a 3 course meal was fitting for our 3rd anniversary.
For the first course we got the spinach artichoke dip, served with different breads, veggies, and green apple cubes was amazing.  The cheese used in that dip was really high quality and tasty.  Then we each got a salad.
The last course was the entree, which was the only one I thought to document because I had to get my phone out to use the timer.  The meat is served to you raw on a platter that you then cook in the pot of water that has some really good seasonings in it. I guess you don't actually have to use a timer but since we were "first timers" at this, we wanted to follow the amounts of time that our waiter told us.  We ended up going over every time anyway so, whatever.
The meats also came out with some delicious dipping sauces - I think the yogurt curry and the terriyaki were our favorite. Like, mixed together.  And the shrimp...and the steak...so. stinkin. good. The chicken was fine too, but the surf and turf knocked our socks off.
We'll have to go back and try their dessert fondue sometime.  I really like the idea of doing a progressive dinner date and I think this would be a fun place to go for one of the courses, especially dessert.

We picked up Ava and headed to Target, my favorite store that I never go to because it's "far away".  He was sweet and let me have a mini shopping spree.  Let me just say that he kind of owed me for some large purchases and outings (backpacking and work conferences) he's had this summer.  I didn't go crazy, but it was nice to buy something that wasn't on the clearance rack for once ;)

We've had a huge picture frame sitting above our dresser for a loong time now without a picture in it because we can never agree on which one to put in it.  So, I made a printout of some lyrics to a song that Devin played for me on one of our first dates. We finally got it in and hung up and then Devin grabbed the guitar.
I always said that whoever I married would know how to play the guitar because I could sit and listen to it forever.  Singing along was fun too.  It was such a fun, relaxing night - totally what we needed to enjoy the rest of the week.
