I've recently become aware of two very unfortunate events in others' lives that haven't left my mind for days. All it has made me do is feel grateful for what I have - a healthy baby, loving husband, gracious parents and family, and knowledge of eternal families and our Heavenly Father's love and plan for us.
We don't always know WHY things happen the way they do, but a couple that I know going through the loss of a child are one of the greatest examples of faith that I have ever witnessed. Instead of being mad at God or themselves (for nothing they could have done) or doctors or anyone, they have instead turned to gratitude and love. Love for their child, love for their Heavenly Father, gratitude that they were able to give her a body on this earth, and love for the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes everything okay. This quote that they shared is what I believe has helped many people understand and get through hard times:
"All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ."
